Shafick was a pleasure to work with, professional, punctual, and reasonably priced. He installed spotlights in the living room and master bedroom, extended the TV switchboard, and added an extra power socket. His workmanship was clean, precise, and tidy. I’m very impressed with the quality of his work and would highly recommend him to anyone looking for reliable electrical services.
Bathroom Electrics & Illuminated Mirrors
Illuminated LED mirrors, extractor fans, shaver points, underfloor heating connections and IP-rated lighting, installed to the correct bathroom zones and fully certified.
Why bathrooms are treated differently
Bathrooms are the most tightly regulated rooms in a house from an electrical point of view, and for obvious reasons. BS 7671 divides them into zones based on distance from the bath or shower, and each zone limits what may be installed and to what ingress-protection rating.
- Zone 0. Inside the bath or shower tray itself. Only 12V SELV fittings rated at least IPX7.
- Zone 1. Above the bath or shower up to 2.25m. Minimum IPX4, and RCD protection throughout.
- Zone 2. 0.6m beyond zone 1, and around a washbasin. Minimum IPX4.
- Outside the zones. Standard fittings are permitted, but socket outlets other than shaver units must be at least 3m from zone 1.
Getting this wrong is one of the most common findings on an EICR. Downlights with no ingress rating fitted directly over a shower, or an ordinary socket installed too close to a basin, will be coded on any inspection and will have to be put right.
What gets installed
Illuminated LED mirrors and mirror cabinets are the single most requested item. They need a fused connection behind the mirror, positioned before tiling wherever possible. Extractor fans are the next most common, whether a straightforward replacement or a new fan with its own timed overrun wired from the lighting circuit.
Beyond that: shaver sockets, heated towel rail connections, underfloor heating thermostats and connections, electric shower circuits, and IP-rated downlights set out to suit the room rather than the joists.
Working alongside a bathroom fitter
Most bathroom electrics happen inside somebody else's refit. That means being on site at the right two moments: first fix before the walls are boarded and tiled, second fix once the sanitaryware and tiling are in. Turning up in the right order keeps a bathroom project moving, and it is worth agreeing those dates early.

What customers say.
Every review below is from a verified MyBuilder customer who actually hired Shafick, not written for this website.
Shafick was an absolute professional. He was very easy to deal with, communication and quality of work was on point. He came to find me still undecided about some of the internal partitions I was creating, and he accommodated the possibilities as he was laying his cables. The outcome made us very happy.
Very reliable and prompt clean work, Shafick was on time… I always go on gut feelings and I can honestly say he knew exactly what he was talking about and he did a good job. Very professional and understands his trade, will definitely use again for future jobs.
