This notice explains what Shafick Electrical Solutions does with the personal information you give us, and the rights you have over it. It covers this website and the enquiries that come through it.

Who we are

What we collect

Enquiry details. When you use the quote form we collect your name and phone number, and optionally your email address, postcode, the service you are interested in and whatever you tell us about the job.
Contact by phone, WhatsApp or email. If you get in touch directly we keep the contact details and the content of that conversation so we can respond and carry out the work.
Job records. If you become a customer we keep records of the work carried out, test results and certificates, along with the address the work was done at.

This website does not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, and it does not set any cookies of its own.

Why we use it, and our lawful basis

To reply to your enquiry and give you a quote. Lawful basis: legitimate interests, namely responding to someone who has asked us to.
To carry out work you have asked us to do. Lawful basis: performance of a contract.
To issue certificates and meet our obligations under the Building Regulations, BS 7671 and our NICEIC registration. Lawful basis: legal obligation.
To keep accounting records. Lawful basis: legal obligation.

We do not use your details for marketing, and we do not add you to a mailing list.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your information and we do not share it for marketing. We share it only where we need to:

Netlify, which hosts this website and processes quote form submissions on our behalf.
NICEIC and building control, where work has to be notified or certified.
Our accountant and, if ever necessary, our insurers or legal advisers.

This site loads its typeface from Google Fonts. Doing so sends your IP address to Google so the font files can be delivered. The map on our contact page is not loaded until you choose to load it; if you do, Google will receive your IP address and may set cookies, and Google’s own privacy policy applies to that.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not become jobs: up to 12 months, then deleted.
Customer and job records, including certificates: at least 6 years, because electrical certification and accounting records need to be available for that long.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us to give you a copy of the information we hold about you, correct it if it is wrong, delete it, restrict how we use it, or object to us using it. Where we rely on legitimate interests you have the right to object at any time. To make any of these requests, contact us using the details above and we will respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk, or on 0303 123 1113. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.

If we change this notice we will update the date at the top of this page.
